LOCAL RULES

 

Players are reminded to consult notice boards for temporary local rules. 

1.       Out of Bounds

Beyond any hedge, wire fence, post or trench marking the boundaries of the course.

2.      Roads and Paths

All roads and paths within the boundaries of the course are deemed IMMOVABLE OBSTRUCTIONS and RULE 24-2 is to be applied.

3.      Water Hazards

Water hazards are indicated by yellow posts. Lateral water hazards by red posts. The margins and extent are determined by either burnt lines or, in the case of Savick Brook, by line of sight between adjacent posts which are movable obstructions. Some posts have been concreted into the ground, which are immoveable obstructions, and relief may be taken under RULE 24-2.

4.      Stones in Bunkers

Stones and cinders in bunkers are moveable obstructions. RULE 24-1 applies.

5.      Practice Grounds

The two small practice grounds each side of the 1st hole are official practice grounds within the boundaries of the course.

6.      Tractor Marks

All tractor marks are GUR.

7.      Pop-up Sprinklers

All fixed sprinkler heads are immovable obstructions and relief from interference by them may be obtained under RULE 24-2. In addition, if such an obstruction on or within two club lengths of the putting green of the hole being played intervenes on the line of play between the ball and the hole, the player may obtain relief, without penalty, as follows: If the ball lies off the putting green but not in a hazard and is within two club lengths of the intervening obstruction, it may be lifted, cleaned and dropped at the nearest point to where the ball lay which is a) not nearer the hole, b) avoids such intervention and c) is not in a hazard or on a putting surface.

8.      Trees

Relief must be taken from staked trees and all rhododendron bushes. RULE 24-2 applies.

9.      Dropping Zones

Hole No.15 – A ball crossing the boundary of the LATERAL WATER HAZARD, beyond the greenside bridge, may be dropped in the designated Dropping Zone under penalty of one shot.

Hole No.17 - Relief for a ball coming to rest in the rhododendron bushes at the back of the green, for which RULE 28 applies, may also be taken in the designated Dropping Zone UNDER PENALTY OF ONE SHOT.

10.   Temporary Greens

A ball coming to rest on a temporary putting green, other than the one in play, MUST be lifted and dropped. RULE 25-1 applies.
