Alex joined Preston Golf Club towards the end of 2020, having latterly managed the Golf Academy at Celtic Manor and before that working as a Professional at The Belfry. He has significant experience in group and individual coaching, and custom fitting. With so many different facets to the game - from long game to short game, along with strategy and course management – Alex understands there are endless learning opportunities for someone wishing to improve their golf game and the good news is that Alex loves to help golfers on this journey. However when he’s coaching juniors, his ultimate goal is for them to have fun and realise the enjoyment they can get from playing the game – ultimately delivering coaching sessions that children won’t want to miss!
Alex took up golf at the age of 12 and was taught the basics by his Dad, at their local driving range. He spent many hours after school and at weekends learning to play the game and achieved a single figure handicap by the age of 17. A successful amateur career followed with county championship wins and national team representation.
Following school, Alex gained the opportunity to complete his PGA qualifications at The Belfry and turned Professional in 2011. Six years working at the Belfry gave Alex an excellent opportunity to learn his trade; he spent many hours delivering junior coaching classes, adult beginner classes and individual lessons plus undertook many custom fitting duties. Following this excellent experience, Alex became manager of the Golf Academy at Celtic Manor, where he delivered the Junior Dragons programme and group adult beginners classes.
Now having moved to the North West, Alex is excited about the prospect of delivering group and individual lessons at Preston Golf Academy, and having the opportunity to support and help the local golfing community.
