Women in Golf

'I am passionate about the game of golf and also passionate about getting more women involved in leadership and participation within the sport. I and the other lady members at PGC, recognise the huge benefits of this fabulous sport - friendship & camaraderie, social support at times of need, the opportunity to stay healthy (both from a physical and psychological perspective) and to just have fun! We as a club recognise we're working in a challenging environment, given the high percentage of women who have to commit time to work and family responsibilities but we are determined to make golf at our club more accessible and a valued opportunity for women and girls to enjoy'.
Penny Beckett, PGC Charter Champion

The Women in Golf Charter (WiG) was launched by the R&A in May 2018 and adopted by PGC in 2020. Our work to date has focused on the development of coaching and teaching opportunities plus making the game more accessible to busy people, through the development of the Flexible membership and Couples membership schemes. Each year we review and update our aims and objectives and formally commit to the agreed activities. We're proud to have received our Charter Certificate, in recognition of the Charter Commitments we've made.
