Are we as good as we say?
Are we as good as we think?
Are we as good as our salaries, cars and fancy suits?
Now's the time to prove it.
This is quite simple really, to be the best, we have to work harder and smarter than the rest. So, when you're "working from home", you're all alone, with no competition, no "banter" and no leader to push, cajole, motivate or annoy you. Therefore, you have find ways to hit those numbers and to be the best version of you possible.
Now given the extreme circumstances, this is going to be even harder than before, there's so many more distractions: the kids, the news, the drama, the need to get out, the pressure of activity and the need to close deals. All of which, you have find a way to block out and focus on the job in hand. Whilst maintaining your sanity.
Our role hasn't changed, the world has, but we still need to hit those numbers.
So what has changed?
Our customers behaviour!
It's that simple. So what do we do when our customers change their behaviours?
We change!
We develop!
We evolve!
As sales people we are the epitome of the human race. We are the ones who change with the times, we are the ones who evolve with technology, we are the leaders on the dance floor, we are the front facing, standing alone heroes which the rest of the business relies upon. Therefore we have to don our shirts, jeans, shoes and of course waistcoat and we WILL make those calls, we WILL send those texts, emails, WhatsApp messages, we WILL sit on LinkedIn all day engaging with our world and we WILL make sure that our customers know that we're the right people for them to trust.
This isn't an old school rally cry, "We will beat them on the beaches" rah rah, this is reality and this is what we should be doing all day, everyday.
Please remember that we only exist because our customers let us, without them we are nothing, so please listen to them, please empathise and please seek the solution which suits them best, not just for today, but everyday moving forward. Let's live their life, let's feel their pain and let's be the one they come to for support. When we do this, we don't get clients, we get friends. We get people who want to help us, we get the trust and relationships we crave. Don't be afraid to be human and don't be afraid to say how you feel, because by becoming human, you become real and not the person in the fancy suit.
